Windows Live Writer

Yes, it's cool.

Funny how the promise of a new tool can cause an IT firestorm.  Windows Live Writer didn't recognize my blog engine (Community Server 1.0), although it did list Community Server in it's list of supported engines.

I thought a quick upgrade of CS would be in order.  What a coincidence - a new version of CS was just released!  I could kill two birds with one stone.  Good vacation opportunity.

Well, let's just say that my CS upgrade did not go smoothly.  I'm now running on das Blog after painfully restoring all my old blog entries.

This is my first posting via Windows Live Writer.  Very smooth.  Very polished.  The one key feature that is missing for me is being able to define styles (e.g. a style for code snippets).  There are some canned styles (Paragraph, Heading 1 - 6).  I guess those just correspond to the obvious HTML tags.  For the angle-bracket averse CSS n00bz (me), it's just not enough.  Give me a nice WYSIWYG tool like Live Writer with full formatting!
